Vinted Members Voice Displeasure About Size Modifications

Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.

This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.

Digital Channels Response

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.

It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Shopper Experiences

Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said.

Required Changes

Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".

"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she stated.

Platform Context

The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.

It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
