Baroque Works is set to exert significant influence in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, although the major clash won’t unfold until the next season, and a beloved, fan-favorite member has recently been selected.
Netflix announced this week that the skilled actor is now part of the One Piece cast for the third season and will play Bon Clay. Bon Clay possesses the power to change into an exact copy of any person they’ve touched with their right hand. The performer, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will portray a rendition of that role re-envisioned as non-binary, as opposed to as a drag performer, in the live-action series, differing from the original manga and anime.
Escola joins several other recently announced actors set to bring the group to reality, such as head Sir Crocodile, portrayed by the well-known actor, a talented actress as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the ensemble as the ruler of the fictional land.
Though Bon Clay is a important part of the organization, the individual won’t appear until One Piece the upcoming installment. Given the second season likely to portray the Little Garden arc, this signals a notable change in the schedule of their first appearance, one that could suggest more adjustments to the plot development.
The actor’s combination of precise humor and profound feeling makes them a standout choice for the character. Besides their latest vocal work in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and multiple awards for penning and acting in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, highlighting the range they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s most celebrated roles.
Netflix's live-action One Piece show is due to premiere for its second season on March 10th, 2026.
