George Springer was instrumental for the Astros securing the championship in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their first Fall Classic since 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the ALCS.
Down three runs to one, Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh frame, propelling the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series win in the series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, the team that is the defending champions, in the anticipated World Series.
"I'm just so happy for our team, the city, our country," commented Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "What an unbelievable moment."
Springer has now hit 23 October home runs, making him third on the list behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).
"I can't think of anyone else on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that situation except for George Springer with his October magic," remarked manager John Schneider.
The Mariners, despite leading the early in the series, are still the one club yet to make an appearance in a World Series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's painful" following his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but praised their efforts this season.
"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of the series," he remarked.
The Blue Jays claimed the championship on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on this Friday.
