Mohamed Salah Issues Apology to Squad, Discloses Curtis Jones

Curtis Jones has revealed that the Egyptian forward apologised to the entire Liverpool squad after the controversy from his televised remarks.

He was omitted from a key Champions League match following voicing frustrations and suggesting his relationship with manager had soured.

“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, please accept my apology.’”

Arne Slot has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the 33-year-old forward.

Jones insisted that the dressing room atmosphere was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, his demeanour was positive and we all treated him normally,” Jones added.

The midfielder also noted that a competitor wanting to play is preferable. “I understand there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just not start, then I think that’s concerning.”

Their results have remained strong in the period after the initial controversy. Jones believes the forward's comments were not intended to destabilise the squad.

“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a desire to win,” the midfielder stated. “It's behind us and we’re building chemistry, performing and securing victories.”
