NFL 2025 season: Week six
Live coverage features live text for the weekend matchups on various channels, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, audio coverage is available on select stations covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week in the NFL season , after recent discussion about two top teams being a potential Super Bowl match-up, each surrendered their perfect starts.
Striking in those games was the number of penalties each committed. Philadelphia committed them at crucial times meaning they kind of beat themselves having led 17-3 entering the final quarter against Denver, who play overseas this Sunday.
However it proved good to observe how Denver's QB Bo Nix was able to overcome that deficit and then direct three scoring drives in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the game 21-17.
The Broncos have the top defender with CB their star corner. They are first in red zone defence, while Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, yet Denver prevailed in that battle.
They had effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They weren't always sending more than four defenders but they might plug two linebackers in the 'A' gap then drop them out and dispatch a slot defender off the edge.
Early on of the season, we said during a show that Denver could be the current year's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year strongly then did a good job in continuing that momentum.
Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?
New TE Evan Engram has excelled significantly while recent running back JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He now ranks fifth league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) and tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
It's impressive how head coach Sean Payton has "RUN IT!" prominently on his call sheet.
That shows that Denver represent a squad aiming to prioritize the run, because one can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush while maintains in favourable situations.
It's also benefited quarterback the young passer, who came the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – just behind Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have powerful arms to pass anywhere, however they don't move in the same way as Nix. He boasts incredible passing ability, which is different, and he is so athletic.
His assets include his movement, the capacity to throw on the run, as well as finding varied release points to make throws when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He is able to throw precision throws over the middle or past defenders.
For a young quarterback, aged 25, he's got great poise under pressure and isn't bothered by the blitz. He aims to evade a sack as much as possible and is able pass in tight spots. He possesses a high football IQ and is very decisive.
When you constantly run the ball it eats up the clock and makes the opponent to be on the field extended periods, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defense has to defend the field downfield side to side. It can be draining.
Nix has pushed back with the coach during games sometimes and I think the coach appreciates that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's fun for him to coach a rookie QB that is kind of like play-dough. He can truly develop him how he wants to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for the coach.
The head coach owns a championship and has surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. I think the success the Broncos are experiencing offensively is mostly due to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with the QB helps make him into who he is.
There's no better a more qualified person guiding you, to help you through difficult moments and build confidence.
I believe in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But are they strong enough to face a top squad at full strength? Because that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.
Currently, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're performing better than most, that's a good place to be in the AFC West. All they need is is maintain this path.
They excel at leaning into their forte, that is the ground game, and this is precisely what they should do against the Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.
New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team yet to win a game.
Ever since the NFL began tracking turnovers in 1933, the Jets are the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway through five games, this is surprising considering that the head coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.
The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.
Following this Sunday's game, the Broncos have a smooth-ish schedule until their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
Looking at their division, the Chiefs hold a losing record and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the West.
It depends on which form of the Chiefs they face because Denver {beat|def
