Devoted fans of the actress are urging that a person who jumped a barrier and grabbed the celebrity during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A widely shared video depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen bypassing camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the actors proceeded down a promenade flanked by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being detained", though court documents revealed that he was set to be present on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was charged.
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram account contains recordings of him disturbing other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney concert in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the area last winter.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is clearly a legal violation," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user questioned.
Many followers blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said a further message on Instagram.
Several attendees also criticised guards at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals called for online networks to remove Mr Wen's content.
In clips circulating online, Grande appeared surprised when she was touched by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Many of supporters had gathered in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore venue, including several who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The film, to be premiered on 21 November, is the follow-up of a two-film adaptation of the acclaimed theatrical musical Wicked, which focuses on the surprising relationship between two distinct sorceresses.
The production itself is a derivative of the 1900 children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a rosé glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who portrays the Elphaba, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and earned 10 Academy Award nods, earning two for best costume and production design.
