Marshawn Kneeland was the 56th selection in the 2024 NFL draft
Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Marshawn Kneeland has passed away at the age of 24.
The Cowboys selected the Cowboys in the second round of the draft in 2024 and appeared in 18 games for the team, including four starts.
He scored his first touchdown in Tuesday's defeat to the Arizona Cardinals when he retrieved a blocked punt.
"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organisation," the Dallas Cowboys said.
"We send our condolences regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family."
Kneeland was picked by the Cowboys with the 56th overall pick of the 2024 draft after playing college football for Western Michigan University.
His representative, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart breaks" for the loss of the athlete who "poured his heart" into each opportunity.
"I saw him strive his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a goal to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley commented.
The NFL said it is "deeply saddened" by the news.
His untimely death has left a void in the football world, remembered as a committed player with a promising future.
