The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's expected for questions to be raised about his position after another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.
Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the team's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.
They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.
“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from management,” the coach commented.
“It would be nice to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”
He noted, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”
Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach said:
“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”
He added, “During our regular conversations we have I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so we'll see.”
Slot expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.
Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.
“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones stated.
“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”
He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club since I was young.”
“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a phase of this nature with outcomes so bad.”
Jones stated, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we'll continue to fight.”
“We will attempt to get this team return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”
“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
